Blanching Asparagus

  • 1 cupof asparagus
  • 4 cupsof iced water
  • 10 cupsof water


  1. Prepare a bowl of ice water with a strainer. In separate bowl, boil water and some salt there. Put the asparagus into boiling water (the water should also boil with asparagus). Wait for the asparagus to become bright green and become tender. Take off the asparagus from boiling water and out it into iced one until asparagus becomes cold ("shocking").Drain and dry asparagus on paper towels until ready to use.
